Creed Foodservice has invested £30,000 in the installation of the Power Perfector system at its Cheltenham and Ilkeston hubs. The Power Perfector will reduce power consumption and carbon footprint by an estimated 13% over a year.
Phil Creed, Director responsible for Environment at Creed says: “This system is a power optimiser which manages the power we consume by levelling out the supply to the right level at any point in time at our two hubs, reducing our overall electricity consumption.”
The Power Perfector savings will reduce Creed’s carbon emissions by almost 70 tonnes per year over the two sites. The potential savings for Creed were identified through working with the Carbon Trust to identify areas that the business could reduce its environmental impact.
Adds Phil Creed: “We are constantly reviewing our operations and making improvements as technology delivers new solutions. This is the latest in a series of moves designed to reduce our carbon footprint by a significant amount. Other recent measures include investing in new energy efficiency delivery vehicles and warehouse reactive lighting – only lighting areas of the warehouse that are being used at any one time. Reactive lighting has also been installed in our Staverton offices.“
