Creed Endorses Regional Apprenticeship Challenge

Foodservice industry career prospects enhanced for eight youngsters

Creed Foodservice is helping youngsters wanting to break into the foodservice industry by lending its support to Gloucestershire’s 100 in ONEHUNDRED Apprentice Challenge campaign, by offering eight places to young people all aged under 24 to work in its customer service and telesales departments.

The scheme is part of a Gloucestershire campaign to get firms to recruit 100 apprentices in 100 days. Besides benefitting and equipping youngsters with the necessary skills to succeed in their chosen career, it will also help companies operating in tough economic times and offer a boost to the economy. The 100 in ONEHUNDRED Apprentice Challenge in Gloucestershire is supported by The Citizen and Gloucestershire Echo newspapers, Gloucestershire College, Gloucestershire First, and the National Apprenticeship Service.

The support of companies such as Creed is essential to encourage more young people to enter the foodservice industry, which, to ensure continued success, must develop the skills of individuals who will become tomorrow’s workforce.

“Businesses like Creed Foodservice value apprenticeships highly because they give us the skilled workers that we need for the future, but these schemes also enable young people to improve their communication skills and benefit from the experience of working as part of a team,” said Chris Creed, managing director of Staverton-based Creed Foodservice.

“The beauty of the scheme is that these young people all have the opportunity to gain experience and qualifications while continuing with their jobs,” added Chris.  “We support them by building in time during the day for them to complete assessments and meet their assessors on a regular basis, while they work towards achieving recognised qualifications in their chosen field.”
